VŠUP Student Works

In 2003, František Štorm took over the typography studio at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design (VŠUP). Together with his students, he analyzed the theme of the ATypI Prague 2004 conference: “Crossroads of Civilizations”. Selected student works are presented below.

Roman Černohous is a first-year student whose design was selected as the official logo of the conference. His “Crossroads” are depicted as the mixing of tablets (sweets) in two colours. Besides posters, he has also designed t-shirts with colour difference for visitors, students and teachers.

Jan Augusta, Martina Nováková.
Martina Nováková takes nine ordinary things, provides them with ideas, shapes, relations and something new appears. Her triptych truly possesses highly relaxed atmosphere while the composition does not lack tension the essential precondition for creative art.

Zdeněk Paták Zdeněk Paták Zdeněk Paták

Zdeněk Paták. He illustrated modern Chinese poetry and his crossroads of civilizations lies in the work of Chu Siang, poet of the 1930s. Zdeňek’s opinion of modern illustrations is at least innovative in our conditions, but does not deny the inspiration of Asian graphic design of the 1990s.

The resulting exhibits will be displayed together with the work of the students of Dr. Vaněk’s Graphic Design studio at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design gallery during the ATypI Prague 2004 conference. Selected student works were also published in issue 7 of the TYPO magazine.
