Pace Testing New Font Protection Technology

They’re keeping the details under wraps, but we’ve learned that Pace Anti-Piracy, a California company (www.paceapp.com) has nearly perfected technology that allows font vendors to completely protect their fonts from unauthorized copiers. Pace has wide experience in anti-piracy software and is responsible for the copy protection on a large number of commercial software products. The font protection technology was developed at the request of Japanese font vendors and is rumored to provide comprehensive protection for TrueType and OTF fonts. Pace declined to provide any official verification for this story, but did confirm that Morisawa Co. of Japan has been testing the new software protection scheme for about three months now and providing feedback to the developers. Full release is expected by year end.
