Do you have news you would like to publish? If so enter it using our news form. BitFonter - a New Bitmap Font EditorMany people prefer bitmap fonts for publishing on the web. On Saturday at ATypI Fontlab Ltd. will introduce BitFonter, a full-fledged bitmap font editor. BitFonter is able to import and export virtually every current bitmap font format (including BDF, HP softfont, and Palm OS). In addition it can output raw bitmap files for formatting by other applications. BitFonter allows the typograper to get the best possible screen representation of their craft. No messing about with hints and deltas. What you see is exactly what you get with a bitmap font. Plus you get color and pictures. BitFonter takes advantage of Fontlab's XML photofont format to allow the creation of fonts with color, patterns, decorations or even photographs. Plugins for Photoshop and for browsers allow the incorporation of these fonts into websites while retaining the ability of the text to be searched and indexed. BitFonter will be demonstrated Saturday afternoon just after lunch in the computer room (14:00) and is available on all the iMacs for people to experiment with. Posted on: 16:41, 21 September 2001 |
