Michael Twyman
Michael Twyman is Professor Emeritus of Typography & Graphic Communication at the University of Reading. He has taught there since 1959 and was responsible for introducing the first degree course in the subject in 1968, followed in 1974 by a department bearing the same name. In addition to a lifetime spent teaching the subject he has written over a dozen books as well as numerous chapters in books and articles on aspects of graphic design. Earlier this year he was honoured with the Sir Misha Black Medal for services to design education. He still teaches postgraduate students at Reading and is the honorary Director of the Centre for Ephemera Studies there.
