III Encontro de Tipografia, Porto, Portugal

The III Typography Meeting is an event organized by the Department of Image Arts (DAI), School of Music, Arts and Performing Arts (ESMAE), Polytechnic Institute of Porto (IPP) through the Research Institute for Design, Media and Culture (ID+) and the School of Art and Design, Matosinhos (ESAD). Under the general theme Convergences, this edition of the conference has the main objective of being the center for diffusion, reflection and discussion on typographical research and development, both at national and international level. The event will feature a range of keynote speakers (Catherine Dixon; Dino dos Santos; Fred Smeijers; Eduardo Manso), along with presentations of selected papers submitted in the call for papers. In parallel, other events are being planned, such as an exhibition, workshops and a networking dinner.

Call for Papers

The organization of the III Meeting of Typography, devoted to the subject Convergence, calls for submission and presentation of short papers or posters, academic contributions and / or professional documents, within the following thematic areas:

 

. Typography and brand identity

. Typeface design

. Typography and media technologies

. Education, history and critical studies on typography

. Typography and design

 

The intended areas crossing the theory and practice, the tradition of printing and the new dynamic and interactive environments, where typographic tradition meets other areas such as multimedia, audiovisual or cinema.

15.07.2012 - Notification of acceptance

Until 15.08.2012 - Early bird registration

15.09.2012 - Submission of revised and final versions of papers and posters

15.09.2012 - Deadline for registration at the conference
