Sammy Or is one of the most important and prolific Chinese type designers working in Asia.
With 30 years of experience, he founded is Visionmark Limited in 2002, a typeface design studio, where he is currently director and principal typeface designer. He is also a visiting lecturer at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University School of Design.
During his long career, Or has worked for the Hong Kong Mass Transit Railway Corporation as Sign Systems Designer, Monotype Far East Limited as Type Manager and principal typeface design, as well as vice-president and principal typeface designer for DynaLab Inc. in Taiwan.
He founded Type Technology Limited in the 1980s, which was the first foundry to develop outline Chinese fonts. The ‘Li’ series of typefaces and Monotype Sung and Hei series are amongst his most well-known and widely used typefaces.
