Type Classification SIG launched
Posted by Mark Barratt on Jun 06, 2011
The new SIG was originally prompted by discussion at the Dublin conference last year around the place of Irish characters in the venerable 'ATypI-Vox Classification' originally devised by Maximilian Vox in 1954 and adopted by ATypI in 1962. It's also the basis of a British Standard.
The SIG as formed will have a wider brief, which is
"The Type Classification SIG exists to discuss, document and critique different typeface classification systems in terms of both existing systems and of new proposals, including but not limited to the Vox-ATypI system"
Membership of the SIG and access to its web forum and wiki are available to any current ATypI member.
