Hong Kong 101
Situated on the southeast coast of China in the Pearl River delta, Hong Kong is a Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China. For more than 150 years Hong Kong was a British colony. On 1 July 1997 Hong Kong’s sovereignty was handed over to China.
Passports and visas
Be sure to have a passport that is valid for at least one month after the period of your intended stay in Hong Kong. Nationals of most countries do not require visas and can stay for periods varying from 7 to 180 days, depending on nationality.
Getting around in HK
Hong Kong consists of Hong Kong Island, Kowloon Peninsula, the New Territories, and some 262 outlying islands including Lantau, where the international airport is located. The urban centres of Hong Kong are located on the two sides of the Victoria Harbour in Central, Wan Chai, Causeway Bay, Tsim Sha Tsui and Mong Kok areas. The conference events will be located on the Kowloon peninsula, in and around Tsim Sha Tsui and Kowloon Tong.
