Albert-Jan Pool studied at the KABK, The Hague, where Gerrit Noordzij introduced him to ATypI in 1985. He left for Germany to work at Scangraphic and URW. In 1995 he started his studio Dutch Design in Hamburg. FF DIN was among his first projects, followed by several corporate typefaces. He has been teaching typeface design at the Muthesius Kunsthochschule in Kiel from 1995 to 1998 and from 2006 until now. He lectures and works as an author and consultant on typography and typeface design.
