John Lane

John A. Lane is a freelance researcher and writer specializing in the history of printing types, punchcutters, typefounding and type specimens, and in analytical bibliography. He has been awarded Guggenheim, PHS, APHA and Bibliographical Society Fellowships for his research and gave the 2011 Justin Howes Memorial Lecture. He works for libraries, museums, type manufacturers and book dealers, and teaches at the Amsterdam University Summer School and the Plantin Institute. His books include The Diaspora of Armenian Printing 1512-2012 and Early Type Specimens at the Plantin-Moretus Museum.
