Rathna Ramanathan

Originally from Chennai, India, Dr Rathna Ramanathan is a graphic design practitioner, researcher and educator known for her expertise in intercultural communication design and typography, as well as non-mainstream publishing practices. 
Through her studio Minus9 Design, Rathna has worked with a range of clients including BBC World Service, UNICEF, World Bank, Harvard University Press and Tara Books and her work has received multiple international design awards. 
Rathna received her PhD from the Department of Typography and Graphic Communication, The University of Reading. She has an MA in Communication Design from Central Saint Martins and a BA in Fine Art from the University of Madras. Formerly a Senior Lecturer in Design and Interaction at Central Saint Martins, Rathna is now Head of Visual Communication at the Royal College of Art.
