Coming up with a fair price for a retail typeface is all but impossible. From tiny pamphlets to giant logos, from e-books to corporate brands, from personal websites to massive mobile apps, a font today can be an ingredient in a mind-numbingly wide array of typographies. There is just too much to think about when assigning a value to that in dollars (or zloty for that matter). I will share my experience from my recent opportunity to rethink the way I price and license my fonts from the ground up. In the hopes that it is helpful to other small font retailers going through a similar process, I will frankly discuss my thought process as I weighed the pricing options out there, and will offer a list of priorities that I adopted that endeavor to better serve the needs of contemporary font buyers.
