Ryoko Nishizuka

Ryoko was a member of the team that designed and developed Kozuka Mincho and Kozuka Gothic, the first Adobe Originals Japanese typefaces. She then designed the three Ryo kana typeface families, currently offered as Ryo PlusN fonts with an expanded glyph set that includes kanji from Kozuka Mincho and Kozuka Gothic. One of her greatest artistic achievements is the typeface Kazuraki, which is the world's first fully-proportional OpenType Japanese font. In 1999, Ryoko received honorable mention for her Branch Letter typeface in the Morisawa Awards International Typeface Design Competition. In 2002, her calligraphic typeface Teika won the Silver Prize in the same competition. This design inspired what eventually became Kazuraki. Kazuraki received a TDC2 award in 2010, and was selected for ATypI's Letter.2 in 2011.
