In Japan, they used to put concrete meaning in type design for signs, publications, etc. in the Edo period but its creative style has been decreasing year by year after changes to typographical environment especially according to the development of the computer.

I'd like to explain the typical "Edomoji" style, which is now used in limited situations, by showing my original fonts in which I put the meaning and inspiration from "Edomoji".

The latter half, I will show some pictures of my typographical painting of all the Japanese characters (of Adobe-Japan1-2), using black on white canvas to express my condolences for the victims of the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami last year. For, in Japan, a black and white combination is used to express their condolence.
