Andre Baldinger

Swiss-born André Baldinger studied typography in Zurich with Hans Rudolf Bosshard and type design at the Atelier national de création typographique in Paris where he graduated in 1994. After his studies he opened his own design bureau. His work is mainly in the cultural sector in the fields of type design, book design, poster design, visual identity and sign systems. He publish, exhibit and lecture regularly about his work, some of which can be found in the collections of the Design Museum Zurich in Switzerland, the National Library of France and the Toyama Museum of contemporary Arts in Japan. He is a member of the AGI. Among the received awards for his work are: New York TDC, Tokyo TDC, Best 100 posters D/A/CH.

Since 2008 he is associate partner of Baldinger•Vu-Huu together with Toan Vu-Huu.

He teaches typography and type design at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris and the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK). Together with Philippe Millot he is head of the type design unit of the Creation and Innovation Research Centre/EnsadLab Type at Paris.
