Talk : Printing, sculpture, and the Hypnerotomachia Poliphili
Dr Oren Margolis, Departmental Lecturer in Early Modern History at Somerville College, Oxford, discusses the mysterious Hypnerotomachia Poliphili, the exquisitely illustrated Renaissance book published in Venice by Aldus Manutius.
This lecture takes place on the 500th anniversary of the death of Aldus, and accompanies the display Aldus Manutius: The Struggle and the Dream (Proscholium, Bodleian Library, 8 January-22 February 2015).
