Tipos Latinos 2012 - São Paulo

The Fifth Biennial of Latin American Typography - Tipos Latinos 2012 arrives in São Paulo – the only Brazilian city to host every edition of the event – after passing through Rio de Janeiro, Veracruz, Montevideo, Caracas, Buenos Aires, Recife, Quito, Caruaru, Santiago, Santa Fe, Guayaquil, Bogotá, Belo Horizonte, Asunción, Cuenca and Valencia (Spain).

Under the sponsorship of Senac São Paulo and Tipos Latinos Brasil Committee, the exhibition will be held in the Lapa Scipião campus of SENAC São Paulo from August 14th to September 14th, 2012. Visitation and all activities are free.

The exhibition opens at 7PM (Tuesday, August 14th) with lectures by brand designer Andrea Kulpas and typedesigner Eduilson Coan, who had two projects selected for Tipos Latinos 2012.

On Saturday, August 25th, from 1-5PM, the Tipos Latinos in São Paulo Lecture Series will gather some of the local designers who also had projects selected for this edition of the Biennal, such as Ronald Kapaz, Luciano Cardinali, Daniel Sabino and Paul André Chagas; Crystian Cruz, Head of Typography at Africa advertising agency; and Fabio Lopez, Technical Coordinator of Tipos Latinos Brasil Committee.

On the same day, from 9-11AM, there will be a Type Critique session with Crystian Cruz, Fabio Lopez and Marina Chaccur, member of the board of the Association Internationale Typographique - AtypI; and, at 3PM, the launching of several design publications in the presence of its authors/editors André Stolarski, Bruno Porto, Claudio Rocha, Guilherme Sebastiany and Luis Marcelo Mendes.

On Sunday, August 26th, designers Fellipe Gomes and Sergio Berkenbrock promote the TIPOS DE RUA (STREET TYPES) Typographic Tour, leaving at 10 AM from Mario de Andrade Library to create a photographic record of São Paulo's urban typography and landscape.
