Save the date! ATypI 2020 All Over set for October 27–31; call for proposals now open

We can’t wait to get everyone together in the fall—virtually, of course. The dates for our first online conference are set for October 27–31, and the call for proposals is open!

Save the date! ATypI 2020 All Over set for October 27–31; call for proposals now open

In late April, we gave you the disappointing news that we were postponing ATypI Paris and ATypI Stockholm by a year each due to the global pandemic we’ve all been dealing with. But we couldn’t bear to let that much time go by without bringing our amazing community together—ATypI hasn’t skipped a year since we began holding events more than sixty years ago. So it’s our great pleasure to confirm that plans are well underway and dates are now definite: ATypI's first-ever online conference will be held October 27–31, 2020.

In addition to the suffering caused by our battle with Covid-19, there are ongoing demonstrations worldwide against myriad other forms of pain, and injustice, and the longterm lack of opportunity for BIPOC and other underrepresented communities. We want to use our platform, whether in-person or virtual, in the best possible way.

The call for proposals is now open for ATypI 2020. We hope that you’ll submit, and we hope that you’ll share the call far and wide. A virtual event gives us a unique opportunity to create a diverse, inclusive, and accessible space where many new voices and others who have been overlooked by the mainstream can be celebrated, their talents showcased, and their messages amplified. We will be doing a lot of our own outreach, but your help is welcome and appreciated.

On another note—we are grateful for the patience and generosity of our sponsors and partners from around the world. Without their support, we wouldn’t be able to present affordable and free events in person or virtually, and we wouldn’t be able to fulfill our educational mission. More news about these kind folks and how they’re supporting ATypI and our community efforts during a terribly difficult time for all nonprofits will be coming soon.

For now, check out more details on the call, share if you can, then get your proposal ready and submit it on Dryfta: https://atypi2020.dryfta.com.
